On a related note, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on my local CL. High miles and needs some service, but damn.
That silver really is one of the best colors for the car.

That shifter is hilariously cool.

I had that in more of a gunmetal. When they start to fail sir, they fail but good.

Looks like it's in pretty good shape, clearcoat is peeling in a few places, and looks like the turn signal housing is broken on the pictured side. Otherwise, if that part it needs is cheap it could be reliable sub $1,000 transportation.

I had a civic years ago. Same story, they run forever, but when they do fail, there is no return. RIP little 2nd gen civic.

It has quite a presence.
Speaking of shifting: I'm definitely one to prefer a manual transmission, but I've made up my mind that if I ever intend to buy a 700 Series, I'm gonna have to accept autos. Manuals are simply too rare, plus a car like this is pretty suited for an auto. I don't think I'd mind it at all—plus I have the Miata to get all of the boy-racer out of my system.

Yeah, that would be acceptable then. As long as you have at least one manual in your life.

so you're saying when these cars reach a certain age they go full-suicidal?

I was actually talking to my buddy about plans for my '85 244 and I've decided that no matter what happens it's staying auto(albeit probably not the one that's in it now). I think I'm gonna start picking up pieces to throw a 16v turbo redblock together over the next year and wait for the current motor to detonate then swap that in with some sort of beefed up auto that will fit and have it as a comfy daily that can still spin tires.

That sounds like good choices all around, definitely resonates with me. Turbo redblock with a healthy auto should do the trick just fine.

Can't go wrong with a $750 car though if it runs decently. Maybe it spends time in the garage sometimes but prob worth your while. Again: $750.
